US Chapters • BH meeting w/ Nords- Military Service: Financial & Life Lessons- 4/17/24-8:00 pm ET

The Bogleheads Life Stage Chapters are delighted to host Nords - retired military officer and long-time Boglehead Doug Nordman aka Nords - for an online meeting on Wed. April 17, 2024, at 8:00 pm ET. Nords will carry forth and answer questions on "Financial and Life Lessons Learned from Military Service" and how to plan for your future following the Great Military Adventure. Although active and retired service members will find Nords' financial and retirement suggestions most helpful, all Bogleheads are welcome and will enjoy hearing about Nords' experiences.

Nords is a long-time member of the Bogleheads forum and a valued poster who is dedicated to helping U.S. Military personnel, retired and active, with their finances and retirement. He has contributed to this BH Wiki article: Military Finances , and in 2019, Nords was profiled in Forbes: This Former Naval Officer Retired At 41 And Despite Two Recessions Has Seen His Portfolio Triple Over 17 Years.

Retired at age 41 after 20 years with the U.S. Navy's submarine force, Nords lives in Hawaii and reports he is "an enthusiastic surfer, an omnivorous reader, a martial arts student, and a veteran of many chaotic home-improvement projects." He is the author of "The Military Guide to Financial Independence and Retirement" (the book's royalties go to military charities):
